Advocate Govind Belbase | Advocate Mr Belbase Architect of the case was practicing in Appeal Court in Butwal, Nepal and known as a human right activist for 12 years. Since he moved to the UK in 1999 he edited weekly newspaper "The Nepali Sandesh" since September 2004 as an editor until 2012. Professor Surya P. Subedi QC(Hon) | Professor Surya P. Subedi, OBE, QC (Hon) DPhil (Oxon.), Barrister Professor of International Law Photo of Professor Surya P. Subedi, OBE, QC (Hon), DPhil (Oxon.), BarristerSurya Subedi QC is a Professor and Barrister whose competence spans a number of areas of international law, including public international law, the law of the sea, international investment law, WTO law, international watercourses law, land and maritime boundary disputes, and human rights. His expertise in these areas of law combines teaching, research, practising law, and high level national and international positions with responsibilities for policy formulation and advice. Professor Subedi has been designated to serve on the Panels of Arbitrators and of Conciliators of ICSID and on the Panels of the Dispute Settlement Body of the WTO. He was elected to the Institut de Droit International in 2011 and made a Membre Titulaire in 2015. He also has served as an expert member of the Task Force on Investment Policy of the World Economic Forum in Davos and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development in Geneva. With a doctoral degree in law from the University of Oxford, an LLM with Distinction from the University of Hull, and an LLB from Tribhuvan University, he has been Professor of International Law at the University of Leeds since 2004. He has published extensively in several areas of international law, with six books and nearly 60 journal articles to his credit. One of his books entitled ‘International Investment Law: Reconciling Policy and Principle’ (Hart Publishing, Oxford, 2016) is now in its 3rd edition. His another book is entitled, ‘The Effectiveness of the UN Human Rights System: Reform and the Judicialisation of Human Rights is being published by Routledge, London, in 2017. He is Chairman of the Board of Editors of the Asian Journal of International Law (Cambridge University Press) and Chairman of the Research Committee of the Asian Society of International Law. Professor Subedi has advised a number of governments and public utility companies on international legal matters and appeared before higher courts both in England and in Nepal. A member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, he is affiliated with Three Stone Chambers, Lincoln’s Inn, London. Prior to qualifying for the Bar of England, he was a consultant on international legal matters to Mishcon de Reya Solicitors, London, and an advocate of the Supreme Court of Nepal. He served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur for human rights in Cambodia between 2009 and 2015 and as an advisor on human rights to the British Foreign Secretary between 2010 and 2015. He was appointed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as an Honorary Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 2017 in recognition of his contribution to the development of international law and to the advancement of human rights and made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to international law and to Britain-Nepal relations in 2004. His late Majesty King Birendra of Nepal awarded him with a high-level State honour, Suprabal Gorkha Daxinbahu, for services to international law and to the nation in 1998. Professor Subedi was awarded the Dasturzada Pavry Memorial Prize for an outstanding DPhil thesis by the University of Oxford in 1993, the Josephine Onoh Memorial Prize for best LLM student by the University of Hull in 1988 and an SPTL Prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship by Younger Scholars by the British Society of Legal Scholars in 1998.

Advocate Yog Upadhyay | Dr. Yog Upadhyay Yog is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Law. He joined Liverpool John Moores University from Derby Law School, University of Derby, where he was a lecturer in law. Yog's research is focused in the issues of sustainability, looking into how the law and regulatory frameworks can contribute to the global sustainability and resilience around built environment, food etc. Yog is also interested in Intellectual Property and International Law, particularly looking at the operation of law and international treaties for developing and least developed countries in the area of food and agriculture.
